Frequently asked questions

Straight answers. No spin.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. You can book directly, no GP referral required. If your complaint is something that needs investigation or a different specialist, we'll tell you that at your Discovery Session.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your first visit is a Discovery Session, a full clinical assessment. We go through your history, examine your movement and the relevant areas, and confirm a clear diagnosis. We want to understand your goals, not just your symptoms. Allow 30 minutes.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes. Chiropractic is one of the most researched manual therapies for musculoskeletal complaints. Like all clinical interventions there are contraindications for specific conditions, which we screen for thoroughly at your first appointment. If chiropractic isn't appropriate for you, we'll say so and point you in the right direction.

Will I need to come forever?

No, and we'd actively discourage that if it wasn't in your best interests. Our programs have a defined endpoint: a full retest, a maintenance plan, and the tools to manage your own body. Some patients choose ongoing periodic care after that. That's a genuine choice people make for themselves.

What's the difference between your Pain to Performance System and regular sessions?

The Pain to Performance System is our flagship structured program: in-clinic sessions, a personalised progressive exercise program, and patient education resources, all built around your specific diagnosis. Session-to-session care is better suited to acute flare-ups or those who prefer flexibility. We'll recommend what we honestly think is the right fit at your Recovery Roadmap.

Do you treat children and elderly patients?

We primarily treat adults. If you're enquiring on behalf of a younger person or an older family member, get in touch and we'll give you an honest assessment of whether we're the right fit, or refer you to someone who is.

Do you accept ACC?

Yes, we are an ACC-registered provider. If your complaint arose from an injury or accident, ACC may cover a portion of your treatment costs. We'll confirm this at your Discovery Session once we understand your history.

Where are you located?

Unit 2B, 16 Florence Avenue, Orewa, Auckland 0931. We're centrally located and serve patients from across the Hibiscus Coast, including Millwater, Red Beach, Whangaparāoa, Silverdale, Stanmore Bay and beyond. Street parking is available.

I'm an existing patient of Dr Thierry Mazer. Will my records transfer?

Yes. All existing patient records held in Gensolve transfer with the practice. Your history, your previous treatment notes, everything, it's all there. Dr Hayes Woodman will review your file before your first appointment so you're not starting from scratch.

I still have questions, can I ask before booking?

Absolutely. Use the contact form or give us a call. We'd rather you ask the questions upfront than arrive uncertain. That's what we're here for.
